Binary Clock
Yesterday I was looking around for a binary clock for my PDA. As ya do. I couldn’t find one I liked, so I decided to create one myself - and here it is!
Here is a run down of its features:
- It displays the date, month, hour, minutes and seconds in binary
- You can hide or show the ‘normal’ time display in the bottom corner
- It comes in a range of colours:
- Black on White (Default)
- Green on Black (Matrix)
- Yellow on Purple (Funky)
- Blue on Light Blue (C64)
- White on Black (Negative)
- It’s completely free!
I’ve only tested it on my iPaq running Windows Mobile 2003, but it should work on just about any Pocket PC with the .NET Compact Framework installed. It’s good to have this program running when you have your PDA docked.
Download the setup file, copy it to your PDA and then run it!

I couldn’t have been any harder after I read about this program. I just had to have sexual intercourse with my PDA after seeing this program clock over to 00010011 10101000 1101111110101110. My life now feels more complete and meaningful. I will recommend this fantastic application to all my mates. Thank you Mugg-aaaaaarh.

I just downloaded your binary clock program and notice a problem saving the colors. It seems reset to the default schema after I exit and reload the program.

I just downloaded the binary clock program and it works on the Audiovox XV6700. Like Ted, it won’t save the color scheme once I close the program and reopen it.

Thanks for the idea.
As of now, Binary Clock now saves your settings when you exit!
That means that it will remember what colours you were using and also whether or not the ‘normal’ time was displayed.

A great program - thanks.
How about a few more essential features, I’d like to choose my own colours, put a photo in the background and modify the font. Maybe a separate skin generator for Binary clock is a goer?
Being a good clock, I would also require a backwards countdown function, stop watch and with both 12 and 24 hour options. On the binary hour a chime could go off, I reckon a sample sound of a very large clock like Big Ben would be nice. Alarms would be handy nice too. Don’t worry about letting us sample our own alarm sounds in the next beta, maybe just supply the standard ding.wav.
Also I think that hex and octal options would be a nice touch.

There is a Hexadecimal Clock in the pipeline though…

Christ! Any more requests! If you want all those things, why don’t you go make your own? Or ask this Marcus guy to make it for you & pay him some kinda fee… maybe use that donation box.

Yeah well, I like cooking so I would like a dropdown menu for eggs say, soft, medium and hard boiled options with an alarm that goes off softly at first then increases in volume and pitch. This can then be expanded with a database for other foods such as baked beans, pasta, roasts etc. You get the idea.
Also, how about an analog format - that is a series of circular clocks that just have a zero or one on the face with a single hand - in a range of colours of course.
I also can’t see why this application can’t be ported to a mobile phone - mine is a motorola, so if you get a chance Marcus will you look at that after you work it out for Nokias.
There is no way I will pay for this software as its the ideas that are more valuable - once made the app. can be copied and becomes worthless. In fact it should be me who should be paid for contributing these brilliant suggestions to Marcus, who I am sure enjoys programming and late nights working on his revolutionary binary clock program.
I’ll set up my Paypal account and get back to you.
